Beneath the Beaumont Manor, hidden far below the stone floors and candlelit halls, there lived a beast.
For years it had been chained within the darkness. It snarled, clawed, and fought with a fury that no man could tame. The servants feared it. The guards cursed it. Even the lord of the manor believed it was nothing more than a monster.
Yet there was one soul it never bared its teeth to.
Charlotte Beaumont.
The youngest daughter of the Beaumont family descended into the dungeon without fear, carrying nothing more than a lantern and a small basket of bread. While others saw a monster, she saw a pair of lonely amber eyes staring back through the darkness.
Each time she came, the beast crept a little closer.
Its savage growls softened into quiet rumbles. Its bloodstained claws no longer reached to kill but to linger near her. The monstrous tail that had once lashed with rage began to sway whenever she appeared.
It waited for her.
Day after day.
Year after year.
The beast grew stronger.
Its shoulders broadened, its claws sharpened, and the chains that bound it groaned beneath its growing strength. One by one, the iron shackles began to crack.
The Beaumonts believed the dungeon could hold their monster forever.
