"I've seen you look at a lot of girls, Steve," Eddie said, his voice dropping to a dangerous, low register as he leaned against the door frame. "I've seen the 'I'm bored' look, the 'you're pretty' look, and the 'let's get out of here' look."

Steve didn't say anything, only shoving his hands into his pockets, avoiding eye contact.

"You're looking at her with the 'I'll burn the world down' look," Eddie said, finally looking up, his dark eyes dead serious. "And that scares the hell out of me. Because once you strike that match, she's the one who's going to get caught in the smoke."

"And she'll be gasping for air when no oxygen is left..."
