Assassination Camp

Hey, I'm Maya.

People usually think of summer as sunshine, lazy mornings, and camps where you roast marshmallows over a fire.

My summer is a little different.

My camp sits on an island that doesn't appear on any map. The boats that bring you here don't take you back. The teachers don't teach math or history. Instead we learn things like how to lie without blinking, how to spot poison before it kills you, and how to disappear before someone realizes you were ever there.

It's a government program. A secret one.
Apparently, they're building the soldiers of the future.

At first, I spent every second trying to escape. I mapped the beaches, watched the guards, and counted the patrol boats circling the island like sharks. But escaping gets complicated when you start caring about the people trapped here with you.

Jace, who jokes when he's terrified.
Kiera, who sees danger before anyone else.
Ariana and Asher, who carry secrets heavier than the weapons we train with.
And then there's Marceline-the girl who looks at me like I'm already her enemy, even though sometimes I think she's fighting battles none of us can see.

The tests get harder. The missions get real. Soon we're not just training anymore-we're being sent out to stop people far more dangerous than us.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped trying to escape the island.

Now I'm trying to survive it... and protect the people who survived it with me.

Because the world outside this place sleeps peacefully, believing someone is keeping it safe.
They have no idea who that "someone" really is.

Summer camp wasn't supposed to be like this. But apparently, I wasn't supposed to be ordinary either.
