Cain was born in Hell.

Raised beneath a cruel father and a kingdom built on suffering, he knows what monsters look like. He knows what pain does to people. And when exile rips him from the only world he has ever known, he expects Earth to be no different.

Instead, he ends up on a curb in the middle of the night, taken in by a human man who should have walked away.

The Brennan house is loud, messy, suspicious, warm, and nothing like Hell. For the first time in his life, Cain is surrounded not by torture, but by family-by brothers who bicker, parents who argue, kindness that comes too easily, and a kind of love he does not understand. As the days pass, Cain finds himself studying humanity from the inside, trying to make sense of the strange, fragile hearts that beat so differently from the ones he has known.

But exile does not erase what he is.

Cain is still his father's son. Still something dangerous. And no matter how human home begins to feel, Hell has a long memory.
