Cupid's chokehold | AVATAR, Ao'nung

In the Metkayina clan, life follows the rhythm of the sea. The days are bright with salt and laughter, the nights quiet beneath glowing waters and endless stars. For most of the clan, the future is simple. You grow, you learn the ways of the reef, and one day you take your place among your people.

But some paths are chosen long before anyone is ready for them.

Tsalwa'nï has known the ocean her whole life. She knows the hidden parts of the reef, the places where pearls hide in the sand and sea flowers drift between the corals. She knows the laughter of her twin brother Rotxo, the calm kindness of Tsireya, and the constant, familiar presence of Ao'nung, who has been beside her for as long as she can remember.

Yet growing up means the tides begin to change.

Old childhood friendships begin to feel different. Expectations grow heavier. And the quiet lessons of the Tsahìk carry more meaning than they once did.

Then one day, strangers arrive at the reef. And with them, everything begins to shift.

Because sometimes the ocean brings more than new waves to the shore.
Sometime it brings the beginning of a story.
