Secrets at Canterlot

Rainbow Dash accidentally tells everyone at Canterlot High that she has a girlfriend when she's trying to impress some classmates. When some people demand proof, she panics and blurts out the first name that comes to mind: Applejack. Applejack is understandably annoyed when she finds out the entire school suddenly believes they're dating, but Dash convinces her to play along for a while so the story doesn't blow up in her face.

they agree it's only temporary and strictly pretend in public. They hold hands sit together at lunch and act like a couple whenever people are watching. At first it's awkward acting and teasing, but the more time they spend together the more natural it starts to feel. Their friends begin to suspect something deeper is going on when the "fake" moments start looking real-small smiles, quiet conversations, and the way they seem to always look for each other in a crowd.

What starts as a simple lie slowly turns into something neither than planned for, forcing both of them to question whether they were pretending at all.
