He'd always known this day might come. Nat didn't wear his heart on his sleeve, but Nunew did. Nunew was what Zee claimed Nat was, a hopeless romantic. Still, he'd imagined there would be signs. A warning. Something. Anything to give him time to prepare for the moment his chest would be cracked open and left hollow.
