Dariya Romanova is the younger, half sister of Natasha Romanoff. She was born in Moscow, orphaned in the poverty of the crumbling Soviet Union. Not knowing of her sister in S.H.I.E.L.D., Dariya enlists in the work of Dr. Arnim Zola Jr., son of the Nazi doctor that worked for Johann Schmidt, the Red Skull, in the 1940s.

Dariya uses her uncanny ability to control frequency to enable the H.Y.D.R.A. bases to have unlimited communication signal. Not only can she control radio, satalite, and television, she can create any sound -particularly music - out of thin air by visualizing sound waves as colored light.

When a young Clint Barton is sent out to find and kill her after she aids H.Y.D.R.A. in shutting down a S.H.I.E.L.D. base, he comes across a girl who is lost and scared of the people who threaten her on a daily basis.

And he makes a different call.
