Emily wasn't always like this, afraid of every person she met, afraid that she would be found, or even afraid of her own shadow. That is until she was found, but not by Hydra, by the Avengers. She doesn't know how long it will take to get back to normal, or if she ever can. What does help is that she now has another shadow watching her every move, and absolutely nothing will scare him off.
Loki doesn't know what's so different about this girl, but he can tell she's hiding something . From the night he first met her with mischievous intentions, she defended herself without thinking twice, and he's been enamoured by her ever since. He wants to know everything about her, including who or what she's running from.
This takes place in the Avengers universe where Emily was taken by Hydra at a young age and trained to be an assassin, as well as being experimented on. After she got her powers, she was able to escape and found a home above a diner where she could protect the diner in exchange that the owners don't ask her questions about her past. But how long does she really have before someone finds out her secret? How long until someone sees her past and sees the people who don't want to give her up?
