A dictionary of disappearance

Maren Aldric is an archivist at Dunmore University, where her life is built on order, records, and the belief that anything properly catalogued can be kept from vanishing.

That changes when a private manuscript arrives and reveals a hidden message written directly to her: "I wondered when you'd get here, Maren."

As Maren investigates, she uncovers a trail of hidden notes, missing records, suspicious deaths, and a lost text known as the Nachtegaal Codex. The deeper she goes, the more personal the mystery becomes. The clues do not feel random. They feel prepared.

Soon she realizes the truth is tied to the one disappearance that shaped her life most: her mother's. The woman everyone believed died years ago may have left behind not only a secret, but a path designed for Maren to follow.

A Dictionary of Disappearances is a literary mystery about archives, obsession, lost texts, and the unsettling possibility that some people do not vanish at all - they simply move beyond the reach of ordinary records
