I was born Naelira of the Nereids-princess, sister, heir to a pod that trusted fear more than it trusted love.

When my sister chose a human man, our people panicked.
They saw her choice as betrayal... and soon, they saw me the same way.
So they cast me out.

Exile should have ended my story.
Instead, it began the chronicle humans would one day call Legends of the Tidewake Pod.

The Tidewake pod found me drifting between currents and offered what my own people never had-refuge, purpose, belonging.
To honor them, and to bury the girl the Nereids rejected, I took a new name:

Nyelith.
Watcher of the Tidewake.
Keeper of the old songs.
Guardian of a prophecy older than the Ocean Giant War itself.

I fought beside the Tidewake as if I had been born to them.
I survived the fall of the Pacific pod.
I followed the survivors across the world to a quiet place humans call Calypso Bay, Florida, where the Atlantic pod rebuilt what we had lost.

There, I witnessed another story unfold-
a brave young man named James,
a Tidewake girl named Sephira whose heartbeat carried echoes of my sister,
and a love that reminded me of the one I never allowed myself to claim.

And Samuel...
the human who saw me not as myth, but as a woman.
He wrote my memories in his journal, turning my truth into the folklore that would one day be known as Whispers of the Tidewake.

For generations, I have watched from the deep.
