Sheriff Dom Andrews has been away for eighteen months.

On his first morning back, a twelve-year-old girl is found in a ditch on Culver's Bend Road. An anonymous caller reported the body before it was otherwise known. The voice was distorted. The phone was a burner. The call lasted thirty-two seconds.
Her name was Mary-Beth Matterson. She had toast and orange juice that morning. She kissed her mother goodbye. She said she'd see her after school.
She didn't come home.
Days later, a second body. Same signature. Different county. The killer is accelerating - and he's been watching Dom Andrews. The timing of the first murder on the morning of the reinstatement was not accidental.
