When Mareika's ride to the moon crash-lands in the wild Dirtlands, her biggest worry is missing the beauty pageant event of the year. It soon becomes apparent that the outcast people of the Dirtlands operate under their own rules, and they're not all thrilled to be harboring a refugee from a city. Even worse then those who want her gone are those who want her for their own purposes - the powerful and sophisticated city technology implanted in her wrist is a weapon many want to use. But in a place where everyone has complex motives - some incredibly personal - how can Mareika be sure whom she can trust with her technology - and ultimately her life?
