Teenager Skylar (Sky) Miller who is a star soccer player, living in a small town in New Jersey called, Wiskayok, struggles to balance her home life, school, soccer, dealing with problems with her boyfriend, and holding a big secret while dealing with staying sane. She's been to the mental hospital before and fears that she'll land back in there if her secret comes out. But when she's with her, she isn't thinking about any of that. She's excited when her team wins a game and makes it to nationals when her plane crashes. At first, she assumes that a rescue team will come but months go by. Winter comes and they eventually run out of food and are left to use another food source. They're forced to make sacrifices. She even deals with stupid relationship problems in the wildness. But eventually, after almost two years of living in the wildness, she doesn't wanna leave. She started to like the person the wildness made her.

Adult Skylar Carter has a stable home and owns her own restaurant. She's married with three kids and it has been 25 years since everything happened. She had spent years forcing herself to remember everything after they tried to fry everything away in the hospital. But after a while, she stopped trying to remember until she gets a postcard in the mail that forces her to reflect on her past. She reunites with the other survivors including the one who she loved way more than she'll ever love anyone else.
