Ria always knew the world was kind of screwed. You don't grow up with an alcoholic father, a terrible reputation at school, and a talent for making bad decisions without noticing that life is basically one long train wreck.
The only person who ever really understood her was Nick Clark. Before he got expelled and everything went sideways, Nick was her partner in skipping class, getting into trouble, and making a few very questionable decisions behind the bleachers. It wasn't exactly healthy. It was just... them.
Then Los Angeles starts getting weird. Sirens everywhere, rumors about violent attacks, people acting wrong, and the creeping feeling that the whole city is about to fall apart. While everyone else keeps pretending everything's normal, Ria watches the chaos build and can't help thinking the universe has a pretty messed-up sense of humor.
Because apparently surviving her father, school, and her history with Nick wasn't enough.
Now the world might be ending too.
