The novel SHE tells the story of a girl whose father was taken by the sea and whose mother was taken by illness - and of a young woman who, on that same sea and on dusty soccer fields, learned how to breathe, how to fall, and how to rise again. In a small Dalmatian town, where women's soccer was neither important nor visible, SHE runs faster than her own fate. While her family collapses under the weight of tragedy and the absence of her mother leaves a wound that feels impossible to heal, soccer becomes her only safe refuge - her way of thinking and expressing herself. Around her stand people who do not save her with big words, but with quiet presence: foster parents who give her a home, a priest who has known her since childhood and supports her in the hardest moments of her life, and a social worker who does not see a "case", but a girl who deserves a chance. There are also coaches who recognize her talent and push her forward despite the prejudices surrounding women's soccer. And beside her stands a friend with whom she shares exhaustion, tears, laughter, the joy of victory and the pain of defeat - but even more than that: dreams, trust, and unconditional support. The novel follows, in parallel, the coming of age of a young woman and the growth of women's soccer in Croatia. SHE grows through victories, but even more through defeats. Her journey eventually leads across the ocean, to the final of the Women's World Cup in the United States. There, not only her soccer talent is revealed, but also the strength of her character, which captures the hearts of millions of fans around the world. SHE is an emotional novel about women's soccer, personal tragedy, and the constant struggle to find one's place under the sun.
