The Space Between Verses

The story follows Andrea Hazel Devin, a quiet Christian transfer student and Muhammad Hakim Izwan, a rebellious Muslim student known for his "bad boy" reputation. Their paths collide when they are assigned a pair project on The Great Gatsby. What begins as a forced academic partnership soon turns into a deep, soul-stirring connection as they realize they are both struggling with the weight of expectations.

As they move from the quiet corners of the library to the digital space of late-night texts, they find comfort in each other. Hakim opens up about his father's strict demands, while Andrea provides a steady light in his chaotic world. They share music through a single pair of earphones-a symbol of the small, shared world they've built between their differing faiths.

However, the "space between their verses" proves too wide for the world to bridge. Hakim's father discovers their connection and abruptly pulls him from the school to attend a strict religious boarding house. In an instant, his digital presence vanishes, leaving Andrea with nothing but silence.

Years pass and while Andrea moves forward-graduating and building a career-the memory of Hakim remains a permanent scar. The story ends not with a reunion but with a mature acceptance.
