William lazily shifts his gaze from his mouth to his eyes. Slowly. Challenging. Like he's saying, "Yeah, and what are you gonna do about it?"
"Not every second," he finally replies. "Just when you open your mouth to say some bullshit."
"So, constantly."
"So, go fuck yourself, kitten."
Est smirks, turns away to the window. It's quiet in the car, just the rain drumming on the roof. William is staring again. Est can feel it at the back of his neck.
"You know," he says without turning around, "if you like it that much, you could just ask."
"Ask for what?"
"I don't know. Permission, maybe."
A pause. Heavy. Sticky.
"I never ask," William replies quietly. "I take."
Est turns his head. Meets his gaze. It's too dark in the car to tell who's going to kill who first. Or...
"Try it," Est whispers. "And I'll break your jaw."
"Your arms are too short, Est."
"But my teeth are sharp."
William smiles. For the first time that day without his usual cockiness.
"I know," he says. "That's why you're still alive."
