"I know you lyin'." "...Excuse me?" "You said you don't want no street n-s.said you want peace and you ain't desperate." He leaned in. "I know you lyin'." Jada Reeves came back to the South Side with a degree, her own lease, and a set of rules she swore on her grandmother's name she would never break. No drama. No street men. No letting anybody in close enough to wreck the life she spent five years building in silence. She had one rule she forgot to make. Don't fall asleep to a man's voice every night for six months - then run into him in a club. Ghost has no face. No bio. Just a black square, thousands of plays, and a voice that sounds like the South Side put all its grief into one person and let him speak for it. Nobody knows who he is. The whole city knows what he sounds like. Jada knows every word. Now she knows his name. And Tyrell already knows she's lying every time she acts like that doesn't mean anything. CHIRAQ is a raw, slow-burn South Side love story about a woman with a perfect life she built from scratch - and the one man she never planned for who can see straight through all of it.

Valeria didn't rush. She never did. Inez was pinned beneath her, wrist locked overhead, the hold precise and impersonal. Not pain. Control. Inez scoffed anyway. "That's it?" she sneered. "I've had tutors scarier than you." Valeria said nothing. The silence pressed in. "You don't scare me," Inez added, louder. Brattier. "You just-" "Enough." One word. Flat. Final. Valeria lifted Inez's chin with two fingers, detached as a correction. "Look at me," she said coolly. "If you're going to embarrass yourself, do it properly." Inez laughed, brittle. "You think this makes you powerful?" "I don't think," Valeria replied. "I decide." Her gaze never wavered. "You provoke because it's the last control you have." "I don't belong to you," Inez snapped. Valeria leaned in, voice razor-thin. "You are my wife. You belong to consequences." She released her grip. "Say it." "No." Valeria waited. The quiet broke Inez, she hated being ignored. "...I'll behave, I'll be a good girl" Inez muttered. "Specify." Inez swallowed hard. "...I'll be your good girl" Valeria stepped back, already distant. "Good," she said. "Remember why." #1 older women-13th February (FAST PACE BOOK)
