I leaned into her touch, savouring the warmth of her palm against my cheek. Her gentle caress sent a shiver down my spine, igniting a fire within me I'd long suppressed. I closed my eyes briefly, inhaling her sweet scent-a fragrance I now realised I'd grown accustomed to and even craved subconsciously.

When I opened my eyes again, they were dark with emotion, pupils dilated with desire. Slowly, giving her time to pull away, I brought my hand up to cover hers on my cheek. I turned my head slightly to press a feather-light kiss to her palm, my lips lingering on her soft skin.

"Tessa..." I breathed her name like a prayer, a plea. In that moment, I felt stripped bare, vulnerable in a way I'd never allowed myself to be before. But with her, it felt...different.
