The Sworn Shield

At a tourney held in honor of her father, Princess Vaella Targaryen is expected to accept a sworn shield chosen for her-but she chooses her own.

Ser Duncan the Tall is a hedge knight of no great birth, but his quiet strength and steady presence draw her in despite herself. Yet her choice does not go unnoticed.

Her cousin, Aerion Targaryen, sees Vaella as something far more personal than a duty to protect-and his attention is as dangerous as it is consuming.

Now caught between the knight who offers her safety and the prince who offers her obsession, Vaella must navigate a court where every glance carries weight, and every choice has consequences.
