not hers, but His

"Kunin Niyo na'ko, Lord."

That was my first prayer na buong puso kong pinagdasal, at iniyakan. Pero ang sagot Niya ay hindi date kung kailan ako mamamatay kung hindi ay mga rason para mabuhay. He gave me a reason to move after I had spent so long just going through the motions. For years, I searched for the concept of Ikigai. To me, living felt like an obligation I never signed up for.

Kasabay ng paghahanap ko sa salitang Ikigai, ay natagpuan ko rin ang depinisyon ng salitang Inay. She was a religious Sister who didn't just teach me about religious formation, but she saved me. I remember the way where she stop mid-step just to share a piece of wisdom, and the late-night talks that only ended when the lights went out. I leaned on her until I realized something life-altering: the peace I was feeling and the strength stitching me back together weren't actually hers. She was just the messenger.

Every word that truly reached into my soul was not hers, but His. As I look forward to the years ahead, I wonder if the spark I feel today will keep burning.
