In the year 900 in the mystical fae world of Hearaethyra, seventeen children are born on the same night-each secretly bound to one of the world's seventeen fae forces. Raised together in a magical forest by the Obsidian Aegis, they grow as a tightly bonded found family, their days filled with play, laughter, and the mischief of trickster fae; unaware of the vital role they are meant to play as living anchors of the world's balance.
For twenty-six seasons, life is peaceful and joyful. But as the forest darkens and creatures grow aggressive, the children begin to sense that something is amiss. When a dangerous attempt is made to capture some of them, their guardians are forced to flee, carrying the Seventeen across a fractured land. For three seasons they run, seeking safety, until they reach a hidden underground sanctuary-an uneasy refuge where secrets are kept, and the children's true purpose remains only partially revealed. But are they really safe here? And how will they face their destiny?
