~REWRITTEN VERSION~ Jasper is the typical prince you don't want to piss off; cold, unforgiving, and mysterious. He is alright with living his life with this cold facade, having fully prepared himself for dying alone and friendless. He doesn't want to do anything about his boring life, for he believes himself far too lazy to achieve anything substantial. Unfortunately, all that changes when he is forced into a marriage with a lord's daughter, and his long lost brother suddenly resurfaces. As deeply buried emotions start to tug at his heart, how long can he keep up his 'facade'? I SHLD BE ADDING TRIGGER WARNINGS here it goes (takes a deep breath) Graphic violence & torture Psychological abuse & manipulation Captivity & imprisonment Forced servitude Self-destructive behavior Blood, injuries, chronic illness / disability PTSD, trauma, depression, anxiety, dissociation, body dysmorphia (Listing some of Jas's mental illnesses out like a cake recipe) Death of family members / execution Power imbalance & morally grey protagonist Subtle themes of toxic dynamics REALLY dubious consent Hopelessness and despair Moral corruption Implied sexual trauma Public humiliation & degredation Grooming undertones and control (i'm looking at u elios) Love as manipulation Self loathing&blame Panic attacks Execution scenes Confinement and starvation

I died and woke up as Cryselle Argentum, a princess whose fate I already knew too well. This world was not unfamiliar to me. It was the setting of a novel I had once read, a tragic story where a neglected child grows into a misunderstood scholar and meets her end at the hands of her own father. Knowing that future, I resolved to survive by doing the opposite of what the story demanded. I would stay quiet, stay small, and stay out of sight. But the world did not allow me to remain unseen. I met Silas Argentum, my father, far earlier than I was ever meant to, and every interaction felt like walking on thin ice. Was he dangerous? Yes. Was he cruel? Perhaps. But he was also attentive in ways the novel never described. So tell me, if fate has already been written, what happens when the person meant to die decides to rewrite the story herself?
