Malia is Ron's twin sister.

That means everyone knows her as Ron's sister and not for who she really is. In fact, she's the opposite of Ron, she's not shy or stupid, she's a bit mean when someone pisses her off and the big one that no one thinks is true, is that she's a Slytherin and not a Gryffindor, completely different from the rest of her family, the Weasley's.

And of course, not everyone loves her because of that. One much more than the others thinks that she doesn't belong in the house of Slytherin.
