Earthia is split in two: the radiant continent of Obelia, where pure mana flourishes, and Noctis, a dark realm ruled by tyrannical vampires. To escape the Blood Queen, the noble Valerius family flees into enemy territory, hiding in Obelia.
Connie Valerius, a rare "Daywalker," bears two curses: an agonizing hunger, and dead, tomb-colored eyes that strike terror into anyone who meets her gaze. Disguised as a lowly maid in the Emerald Palace, her goal is to protect her family and survive.
But fate sets her on a collision course with Obelia's cold tyrant, Emperor Claude.
