She lives in a world where the control that men have over women is seriously dangerous.
The government: Only men. On the streets: Almost only men. Besides women who're getting pulled to their working spaces. Every day is the same. The same horrifying. The same intimidating. It seems like everyone has accepted their faith. As if it didn't even matter to women anymore how they're getting treated. But Number 587 has never given up on the thought of the outside world. On the thought of escaping.
And that's exactly what she's going to do. Escape. Even though it will break her heart. Even though there will be obstacles. She knows she needs to at least try.

No one has ever dared to stare him directly in the eyes and tell him something he won't like, that is until he meets Ariela Brianchi, who he promises will make her life a living hell for as long as she's in that school. Riley was dealt a bad deck of cards in her life. Her mother passed giving birth to her, and her father blames her for his wife's death. He abuses her non-stop, and there's nothing she can do about it, even if she tried. That's when Spencer comes along.
