Paloma is a a bakery worker living in Liverpool after a childhood in London. She dreams of becoming an author while simultaneously working as a baker with her best friend, Belle. Paloma meets John right before he leaves for Hamburg in 1961. John pushes her into a relationship quickly, but Paloma takes the chance, hoping to get the love she dreams of.
Paloma tells the story from her perspective, showcasing the love she shares with John.
