Rook King can't feel pain. His power is called Damage Down. It stops any real harm from happening, but the person still feels everything. He's kept his own doppelganger chained up in his apartment for ten years, torturing him just to feel something.

In a world where Gates open up and spit out evil copies of people, Rook joins the 9th Squad of Cleansers. A bunch of broken outcasts in a city with fake sunlight.

Together they deal with the worst the city has to offer.
