When thirteen year old Tharon learns the truth about his dead mother, and his hometown is destroyed by knights looking for her, he and his cousin Thalia are forced to grow up fast, as they travel the land in search of answers.

Furthermore, under the reign of a 'dragon sick' king, the lands are once again in turmoil over ever his ever increasing tithes and taxes.
