For generations, the Kelutrel clan has lived in the "Stillness" of Pandora's frozen poles, far from the warring clans of the rainforest. They are the ghosts of the ice-white-skinned, amethyst-eyed, and silent.

They do not sing to Eywa; they hum with the glaciers, believing that to move is to waste life, and to speak is to break the peace of the Ancestors.

But the Sky People have brought a new kind of heat.
When Jake Sully and Neytiri arrive on the wings of the Great Toruk Makto, they bring an omen of fire that the Kelutrel have feared for centuries. As the RDA's thermal drills begin to melt the sacred glaciers-turning the memories of the dead into rushing water-the Stillness is shattered. Sa'eyra, the daughter of the high priestess, and So'lek, the clan's greatest hunter, find themselves caught between their people's ancient laws and a desperate need for vengeance.

To save their home, the Ice-Walkers must do the unthinkable: leave the silence of the snow and join the roar of the forest war. But as Sa'eyra's rage awakens, she realizes that the "Silent Mother" has a voice of her own-and it sounds like an avalanche.
