With elective mutism and an apparent inability to decipher social cues, there were few people that understood Winifred Clarke, and there were even fewer people that Winifred Clarke understood. The Party were the first friends she'd ever known, and the only ones she needed. She finally had game nights, and friends, and a crush, and all the things Freddie was told girls her age should have. They looked out for each other. They made her feel normal.

And then Will Byers went missing. And nothing was normal anymore.

She should've known better. Winifred Clarke was never built for normal.
