A war does not end when the last battlefield goes silent.

It only learns new names.

Daniel Kiel was made in the aftermath of one. Raised by the Association-the last authority standing after the civil war-he becomes something precise, controlled, and feared in quiet circles: a specialist deployed where diplomacy fails and survival is optional. Orders are clean. And Daniel has never failed to complete one.

Until He is sent to Moroque on a simple assignment. There, Daniel was meant to find what remained of a dead man and return with silence where others had left questions.

But Moroque does not behave like an abandoned place.

Houses remain lit where there should be ruin. Strangers speak as if survival is still expected. And the deeper Daniel moves into the town's quiet routines, the more the world around it begins to feel misaligned.

The assignment does not resolve.

Toward the forest.
