The Line Between Love and Hate

My name is Summer Ray, and for most of my life, I was the girl people laughed at, not the girl they looked at twice.

I used to be overweight, shy, and practically invisible-except to the people who wanted someone easy to pick on. The worst of them was Noah Reid, the same boy who lived down the street from me and made my childhood miserable with his jokes and pranks.

Everything changed the summer before freshman year. I worked harder than I ever had in my life-training, dieting, and rebuilding my confidence from the ground up. When I walked into school that fall, no one recognized me. I was no longer the awkward girl hiding in oversized hoodies. I was fit, confident, and suddenly... popular.

By senior year, I had everything I once dreamed of: friends, attention, and a reputation as one of the prettiest girls in school. People admired me, guys flirted with me, and teachers treated me differently.

Everyone changed-except Noah.

He still teased me like we were ten years old, still pulled stupid pranks, and still acted like I was the same girl he used to laugh at. So I started fighting back. What began as revenge turned into an all-out prank war that the entire school watched like a reality show.

Then our English teacher paired us together for the one project we both needed to pass in order to graduate.

Now I'm stuck spending hours after school with the one person I hate most... and somehow, the more time I spend with Noah Reid, the harder it becomes to remember why I hated him in the first place.
