Against All Odds

Courtney and Parker are Fourteen and Seventeen during the Vietnam War. It lasts for eight years.
During those long eight years, Courtney develops feelings for Parker. Parker feels the same and tries his best to survive and win the war, just so he could get back to Courtney safely, because he didn't get the chance to appreciate her when they were together as neighbors.

In those eight years, Courtney' s Father-Johnathan Foster-dies. She goes into depression but can't sit in it because her mother-Vani Foster-is completely broken. So Courtney never gets the chance to grieve.
Plus with all the stress of whether or not Parker is going to make it, she turns to SH

Parker, on the other hand, is dealing with severe trauma. He made a friend-Conner-in the war.
He has nightmares, but somehow, Courtney is always in them in the end.
It hurt too much to live....
