When Sebby met August she was missing a tooth and still unsure about the world. When August met Sebby he was quiet and enamored by her smile. Ten years later Sebby has come to terms with being an impenetrable fortress and August has realized there's nothing he can do to make it out of his pit. After getting broken up with Maddox High's residential mean girl, August stops going to school. Unexpectedly, Sebby is overcome with the undying curiosity to find out if he's dead or alive.
