Fate drew their first breaths together.
Two middle schoolers, Chiba Hayate (千葉 颯) and Kota Koharu (光太 小春), a 3rd year and 2nd year student, seem to be your average kids: happy, talkative, a bit awkward; the usual things adolescents act like during their transition to puberty. But underneath the facade lies the black sea. There's no spark or gleam of their exterior personality. It's like a lake with too much algae, leaving nothing behind.
Hayate leaves this year, and Koharu grabs on tightly to the rope as it slowly slips away. Her hands begin to sweat and her fingers slip. She knows he won't be here next year, that next year it'll be herself and only herself, but she can't face the truth.
The rope begins to fall.
Slowly it drops,
Into the void
Where no hands can reach.
