Note on historical context:
The Patriot contains historical inaccuracies. As a history student, I am aware of the real context of colonial South Carolina, including its system of slavery. However, I am choosing to remain close to the film's canon interpretation for narrative consistency. In this version, the Martin household is portrayed as employing freedmen, diverging from historical reality.

After fleeing what was left of the reserve she lived on from the French and Indian war, Inola runs as far as she can to work as a housekeeper in the Martin family property. But as both her and the colonies grow older, she'll soon realize her arrival was more than an orphan and a foster family... but the reawakening of dangers not even she is aware of.
