Fear

Fear; an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat

there was one I lost at first, I "loved" him
more than anything.

but then, there was another.

he was my fear. I had the fear of losing him, but also gaining him.

I loved him. but I feared he would too.
