She was always there-in the same jeep every morning, seated by the window, quiet and distant. The girl never looked lost, only detached, like she was saving her thoughts for something more important than the noise around her.

The boy noticed her not because she was beautiful-
but because she never reacted.

Different departments. Different schedules.
Yet somehow, the university made their paths cross again and again.

Inside campus, he started doing it.

Nothing loud. Nothing obvious.
Just exaggerated expressions when he passed her. Raised eyebrows. Funny faces. Silent jokes meant only for his friends nearby.

She never responded.

No eye-roll. No frown. Not even annoyance.

And that unsettled him.

People talked.
"Siguro mute."
"Baka hindi nakakarinig."

She never corrected anyone.

So he believed it.
