Dragons were nothing more than beasts, or that's what Edwin was taught to believe. His nation, Gorish, hunts dragons for sport, conquers lands, and enslaves their people, all to grow their thriving empire. At the age of fourteen, all young men must go through a coming-of-age tradition where, during the dragon's migration back to the island of Xolf, the teens must slay or gain a momentum of one, die trying, or return empty-handed, turning them and their family into nothing but beggars. When it's young Edwin's turn for his trial, things take a turn. Instead of slaying or being killed by the monsters he's supposed to vanquish, he gets carried off by one to a land where humans and dragons work together as dragon knights to maintain order and harmony as they serve the High King and the Dragon Empress.
