None who witnessed the match between Prince Maekar Targaryen and Princess Lihua of Leng could call it a happy one, but few royal marriages were fashioned for happiness.

There had scarcely been time enough to comprehend Dyanna's loss before the king began speaking of remarriage, insisting that Summerhall required stability, that Maekar's household had fallen into disorder without a lady to govern it, and that six motherless children could not be left to nurse their sorrow alone.
