The NVX virus erases the mind, destroys the body, and leaves something monstrous behind. But sometimes... something human fights back. When a brilliant neuroscientist and a government agent are sent into the ruins of Greyford to retrieve the only viable sample of the outbreak, they quickly discover that the infection isn't the only thing capable of overriding human instinct. And sometimes, the most dangerous instinct to overcome is the one that tells you to stay alone. (this is a work in progress with the original upload on Ao3 under measuredabsence)

Lorelai Daisy Slater was a quiet girl. She worked hard for what she had, put a lot of effort into her studies, and was ready for the real world. She worked hard to transfer from a little community college to Briar U. She thought it was gonna be an easy two years, work at Malones, get a scholarship, and get a stable job once she graduates, but the Briar U boys seem to be interested in her. Rory had thought she left it all behind, but when Dean DiLaurentis recognizes her, she knows it's gonna be hard to avoid him. She sneaks around him at Malones, the Hockey rink, when she sneaks in to skate, and even on campus. But how long until the boys succeed and get Rory to finally talk to them?
