Ang Dating Mundo

For centuries, the ancient things that dwell in the humid corners of the archipelago have agreed on very little, their ancient grudges as gnarled as their roots. But lately, a collective shiver has passed through the spirit world, and they have begun to ask the same pressing question: "Ano yon?" To the rest of the world, Hiraya is merely a sixteen-year-old Filipino-American navigating the city of Metro Manila. She is a girl of mundane rituals-enduring the erratic rhythm of EDSA traffic, half-listening to her friends' high school dramas, and reciting prayers before bed to a God she hopes is listening. She believes herself to be completely ordinary, unaware that the "true light" her Lolo speaks of is beginning to leak into her vision, or that the very shadows she ignores are now leaning in to get a better look at her.
