E'layah is Varangs daughter, and while her mum is the vicious leader of the Mangkwan clan , aka the Ash people , E'layah since birth has had a deeper connection to Eywa and to the fire she tames. Growing up to be a skilled and widely feared warrior, she remains true to herself and her morals of kindness and gentleness though she hides this with a cold and calculated facade in order to maintain the respect of her mum

When Quaritch and his soldiers interlink with the clan , E'layah finds herself feeling more out of place and more like a slave than ever.

Until she meets him. During an attack and a raid , she meets the Sullys , and in particular Neteyam.
