How Did We Get Here?

In the streets of downtown Philadelphia, survival isn't a choice-it's a skill.
Calliope has never known anything else. Abandoned by the people who were supposed to raise her, she grew up in alleyways and broken buildings with only one person truly by her side: Aaron. Best friends since childhood, the two learned early that the world doesn't hand out second chances. If they wanted to survive, they had to take what they could get.
By day, they're just two teenagers drifting through the city's forgotten corners. But when night falls, they run a dangerous game they call "Happy Hour." Breaking into the empty mansions of the rich, smashing their perfect lives apart, and selling whatever they can before the sun rises.
It's reckless. It's illegal. And one mistake could destroy everything.
The only person trying to keep them from falling too far is Uncle Sam, the older man who took them in when no one else would. But the deeper Calliope and Aaron sink into the life they've built, the harder it becomes to escape it.
