Selene Jolivette is a girl from Nevermore, who seems normal while everyone else is labeled an outcast for their flashy abilities or uncanny visage. Her secret is temporal resurrection.

Selene can access the temporal imprint stored in a body like memories embedded on a person and briefly "step into" moments from that person's past. If she interferes, she creates fractures that carry into the present. Unlike Pugsley she cannot shock someone back to life. She can tweak a person's timeline to bring them back, but only one at a time. Overuse, or trying to save someone who won't change, can erase them forever or create a paradox. She can access a void space to "steer" or "spy" on a person's memories. She rarely uses it, but learning about a mysterious tale about a former Nevermore student from Agnes, a professor and Ajax it sparks her curiosity. Wandering the woods, she finds the tower. Inside, drawn to something she can't name, she discovers someone that she should run and be scared but she doesn't . An inexorable, unsettling drive propels her to employ her gift to grant him a second chance. The pull between them is dangerous and forbidden, a dark love entwined with death and mystery neither one of them are ready for.
