The Shadows Know Her Name: AzrielxOFC

Maxine is a shapeshifter, powerful and at ease being everyone and no one. She finds herself in the Night Court working for the High Lord (Rhys's father) when she is assigned to train Azriel, who just so happens to be her mate. This couldn't have come at a worse time. A war is coming; they don't have time for romance or mating bonds. But they have to work together. So they wait. As the war goes on, they become closer than they imagined they would, and without the connection of a full mating bond. Of course, there is one small hitch in their growing connection: they agreed to keep it a secret. All of it. The bond, their friendship, everything. Initially, everyone believed they hated each other. Tensions were high in each interaction; hatred was a guise covering up a connection that was dangerous in a war, and risky under the harsh High Lord's command. Eventually the war ends, and Max and Az find that they now have the time and freedom to explore their bond. Still, they are the spymasters of the Night Court, and accordingly they are very good at keeping secrets, so it's only natural they keep their bond a secret, even from their family.

This work is just something I thought of and wanted to write it down and I thought I would post it. Azriel/OFC pre-ACOTAR we're giving the poor boy some love earlier in his life.
