Following the oblivion crisis, a dunmer alchemist named Gils Drelas finds himself trapped in the deadlands of oblivion. After having survived for over two hundred years in the blazing hellscape he is abruptly and accidentally summoned back to Nirn by a naive aspiring conjuror named Sophie Maret.
Upon realizing that his soul is bound to oblivion, and that he can only remain in Tamriel for a few hours at a time, Gils work tirelessly with Sophie in an attempt to try to find a way so that the old dunmer can permanently return to the realm of mortals.
