Soulmates are located by tattoos, that appear on a young Shadowhunter/Downworlders' wrist on their eighteenth birthday, usually representing something important to their soulmate/mates.

Each tattoo is individual and unique to each soulmate grouping, but always has something that represents the Shadowhunter/Downworlders' soulmate/mates, as well as themselves, with initials, to make things slightly easier.
